Digital Current Mode
Current mode is very popular in many converter designs. Most straightforward transposition of a current mode into the digital technology results in a necessity for a very high sampling rate of the output current. This technique proposes a method where the value of the inductor current instead of being measured is computed. Relatively low rate measurements (for example once per switching cycle or less) are used only to reduce any fixed or slowly drifting differences between the measured value and the digital observer. In this way a simple and low cost ADC may be used while most properties and benefits of the current mode are preserved.
